Who we are
AnchorGood is published by SDS Studio ("we"). Questions about this policy or your data: [email protected]. AnchorGood sends no personal data to us, so we hold none about you.
What stays on your phone
AnchorGood has no account and does not send your data to an AnchorGood server. What you enter or record is stored on this phone: your boat and anchor details, safety contacts, anchor watches with their GPS track, alarms and settings. We cannot see or restore this data.
Detailed GPS tracks of finished watches are deleted from the phone after the history period you choose in Settings (14 days by default), the next time the app opens. Deleting the app deletes all of this data from the phone; copies can remain in your own iCloud or computer backups of the phone until those backups are replaced.
What leaves your phone
Weather: to show wind, gusts and sea state, the phone asks Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com and marine-api.open-meteo.com) for a forecast at your position rounded to about 1 km. This happens when you open Home, the Map or Weather, while you drop anchor, and about every few minutes while the app is open. No name, contact or anchor watch is sent. Like any internet request, it carries your IP address and the phone’s standard request information.
Sea marks on the map: when the map is shown with the "OpenSeaMap seamarks" layer on (the default), the phone downloads map tiles for the area on screen from tiles.openseamap.org. The tiles requested reveal the area you are looking at, which during an anchor watch is around your boat, together with your IP address. You can turn this layer off in the map layers.
Depth shading: if you turn on the "Bathymetry (EMODnet)" map layer (off by default), the phone downloads map tiles for the area on screen from tiles.emodnet-bathymetry.eu, together with your IP address.
Base map: map images and place names come from Apple Maps (MapKit). Apple receives the map area being shown, under Apple’s privacy policy.
Messages you send: when you tap Call, SMS, WhatsApp, E-mail or Share on the alarm screen, your phone opens that app with a prepared text that may contain your boat name and exact position. Nothing is sent unless you send it; the message is then handled by that app or service.
These services are run by independent providers (Open-Meteo, OpenSeaMap, EMODnet and Apple), some of them outside your country, so these requests may be processed abroad. They receive only what is described above, never your name or an identifier from AnchorGood. We use them because their published terms protect this data at least as described in this policy.
AnchorGood contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting service.
Permissions
Location (precise, and "Always" so the watch keeps running when the screen is locked) is used to watch your anchor, to show your position and to fetch the weather. Positions are recorded only during an anchor watch. Notifications are used for alarms. You can change both in iOS Settings; without location the anchor watch cannot run.
Legal basis
Data is processed to provide the anchor watch you asked for and for your and your crew’s safety. Location and notifications are used only with your permission in iOS.
How long data is kept
On your phone, detailed tracks are not copied in any way during the history period you choose. The weather and map services above keep their own request logs under their own policies.
Your rights
Your data is on your phone and under your control: you can change or delete it in the app, or delete the app. For questions write to [email protected]. You may also complain to your data protection authority (in Türkiye: KVKK; in the EU: your national authority).
Children
AnchorGood is not intended for children.
Changes
If this policy changes we show the new version in the app and ask you to accept it. Anchor monitoring is never blocked by this.
Terms of use
What AnchorGood is
AnchorGood is an information and alerting aid only. It is not a navigation system, chart plotter, ECDIS or official nautical chart. It does not replace official nautical charts, certified chart plotters and primary navigation equipment, a proper anchor watch kept by a person, good seamanship or the skipper’s own judgment, and it must not be used as the only means of keeping the boat safe.
Distances, circles, scope, weather, sea marks and depths shown in the app are estimates for information. They may be wrong, out of date or missing, and they are never a guarantee that an anchor holds or that an area is safe.
Your responsibility
The skipper alone remains responsible for the safety of the boat, the people aboard and other people and property, and for every decision about navigation and anchoring. Suggested values (scope, swing, alarm radius) are references to confirm or change, not proof that an anchorage is safe.
GPS, weather, maps, the phone, its battery, notifications and the internet can fail, be delayed or be inaccurate. The alarm sounds only on the watching phone: keep it charging and where you will hear it. If that phone goes silent, nobody else is told.
Price
AnchorGood is free. It has no advertising and no in-app purchases.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the app, or share other people’s data (such as a safety contact’s number) without their permission.
Liability
AnchorGood is free and is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or that an alarm will sound or be heard.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss or damage — including damage to or loss of a boat or other property, personal injury, dragging, grounding or collision — arising from the use of, the inability to use, or reliance on AnchorGood, including a failure or delay of the alarm, GPS, notifications or data.
Where the law does not allow liability to be excluded (for example for intent or gross negligence), it is limited to the minimum the law permits. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited by law.
By using AnchorGood you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
